A time honoured PROCESS
Commission by Drummonds
Shot on location in a working iron foundry, I photographed techniques first used by the early Victorians foundries through to lost wax casting, a process thought to date back 5000 years.
This was a challenging shoot in a hectic environment using a mix of artificial and/or available natural light. The shot blasting of baths prior to enamelling was particularly problematic... cameras (or me for that matter!) aren't designed to withstand such an environment. However, where there's a will there's a way and with a bit of ingenuity from the team we succeeded.
Big thanks to all involved and full respect for the men and women who continue to practice such time honoured techniques.... there are no computers at work here.
