LAND ROVER - DISCOVERY SPORT
The story goes that the design for the first ever Land Rover was sketched into a damp sandy beach by Maurice Wilks, technical chief of Rover, in the summer 0f 1947. Working in conjunction with his brother Spencer, Maurice came up with the idea of a world-conquering off road vehicle whilst walking by the ocean near their farm in North Wales. It would offer the benefits of a tractor but with on-road usability. It would be a Rover for the land. A Land Rover.
When Land Rover asked me to shoot their latest model of Discovery Sport, I suggested we photograph a road trip through Wales ending up on those hallowed white sands in the North of the country. A journey home, if you like. The route would take us through some spectacular scenery; landscapes made all the more accessible by a luxury vehicle that far exceeded my expectations off-road. I think Maurice would be pretty happy with how things have progressed.
