Hiking smoky mountains in search of the hot stuff

 

Kīlauea is a currently active shield volcano in the Hawaiian Islands, and the most active of the five volcanoes that together form the island of Hawaiʻi. We hiked for around 9 hours across barren lava fields in search of the flowing stuff... worth every step.
